MERRIE JO SNOW PAINTING STUDIO

I was trained as an oil painter and received my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2001.  I also studied Conceptual Landscape Painting at Oxbow chool of Art, Saugatuck, Michigan.

I would describe my paintings as semi-abstract and I am inspired by the colorful, tropical landscape of south Florida and the dramatic shoreline of the Pacific Northwest.  I spend lots of time taking digital photos and I work in various mediums, including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels and charcoal.

In 2007, I spent the year painting on location in Malmo, Sweden in the region called Skane, in the southern part of Sweden.  I held my first international one woman show at Galleri Ronnquist and Ronnquist on Lilla Torg Square in Malmo, Swede in July, 2007.   I completed 26 acrylic paintings on canvas and paper for the show.

I spend most of the year painting in south Florida, and my work was juried into the 46th Founders Awards show of the Naples Art Association at the Von Liebig Center in Naples, Florida and also at “Art Squared” at the Phillips Gallery on Sanibel Island,  Florida.

My original paintings and limited edition giclee prints are available for sale online or in Florida at 2 Islands Gallery at Chadwick Square at South Seas Resort on Captiva Island and at Sanibel Art & Frame on Sanibel Island.

I spend summers painting at my studio on the Oregon coast and my original paintings and limited edition giclee prints are available for sale in Pacific City, Oregon at Rob Trost Gallery and Rowboat Gallery.

welcome to the world as seen through my eyes

Color is my inspiration - the vibrant orange, pink and reds of a sunset, the deep greens and brilliant yellows of the palms, the bright stripes of an umbrella, even a t-shirt on the beach inspire me.
